2:2I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked people, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false.
I know
1) your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance.
The Lord is not forgetful of our works (Hebrews 6:9-12). But remember that works is the result of faith and love (James 2:17-18).
Perseverance results in God's compassion and mercy.
2) I know that you cannot tolerate wicked people,
According to Proverbs 8:13, if you fear the Lord, then you hate evil. Ephesus did not put up with these evil people.
3) that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false.
Earlier in John's life, he wrote that we should test the spirits - 1 John 4:1-3, if they are true or false. If spirits are to be tested, then what are the tests to be an APOSTLE?
