  John is writing to seven churches in Asia Minor. The message came originally from Jesus, who had received it from His Father.

• Message to the Seven Churches, V:4-8

  The area where these Seven Churches are located was first evangelized during Paul's third missionary journey (AD52-56) (Acts 18:23-20-38).

• The Patmos Vision, V:9-20

  John has been banished to the island of Patmos by Emperor Domitian because of his Christian testimony. John is about 95 years old. On the Lord's Day (our Sunday?), John sees visions which he is instructed to share in writing to these seven churches.
