2:2 I know what you have done—how hard you have worked and how you have endured. I also know that you cannot tolerate wicked people. You have tested those who call themselves apostles but are not apostles. You have discovered that they are liars.
I know
1) what you have done—how hard you have worked and how you have endured.
The Lord is not forgetful of our works (Hebrews 6:9-12). But remember that works is the result of faith and love (James 2:17-18).
Perseverance results in God's compassion and mercy.
2) I also know that you cannot tolerate wicked people.
According to Proverbs 8:13, if you fear the Lord, then you hate evil. Ephesus did not put up with these wicked people.
3) You have tested those who call themselves apostles but are not apostles. You have discovered that they are liars.
Earlier in John's life, he wrote that we should test the spirits - 1 John 4:1-3, if they are true or false. If spirits are to be tested, then what are the tests to be an APOSTLE?
