Christ the Lamb breaks each of the four seals, and each judgment begins when one of the four living creatures says "Come. The crowned rider on the white horse goes out bent on conquest. The red horse's rider takes peace from the earth, and in civil war men slay one another. Famine comes with the black horse judgment, and the rider of the pale, ashen horse, attended by Hades, is given authority to kill a fourth of the earth by sword, famine, plague and wild beasts.
