In a vision John is carried in the Spirit to heaven, where he sees God sitting on the throne. The scene is awesome and beautiful, attended by lightning and thunder. Twenty-four elders are around the throne, and seven Spirits of God, as lamps, are before it. In the center, around the throne, are four living creatures, who never stop singing. "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come." Each time they praise God, the twenty-four elders cast their crowns before Him, saying He is worthy of the glory because He created all things, and by His will will they have their being.
